2006 Season - Genesius Guild
Shakespeare: “The Tempest”
The guild’s first dramatic offering is also Shakespeare’s
last complete work: “The Tempest.” The action takes place on
an enchanted island to which Prospero, the deposed Duke of
Milan, draws all his enemies by way of a storm at sea.
The romantic and comic adventures of the voyagers, the actions
of the creatures who serve Prospero: Caliban, “half man,
half-fish” and Ariel, a spirit of pure imagination; the
dawning love of Prospero’s daughter, Miranda; and Prospero’s
journey from revenge to forgiveness constitute a fantasy at
once amusing and inspiring. This is the fourth time the guild
has staged the work.
